This Fyn speed achine will soon be ready for new records, and will soon be unveiled in Faaborg with records are soon to fall - that is, if it is up to Jacob Frost, Jacob Groth and Jonas Pedersen.
The South Funen threesome are in full swing to build this 40-foot trimaran with the stated goal of putting a series of new records together during the coming season. But this Formula 1 project also has a different background......
No one dares challenge - we simply wish to show that you can still build fast boats in Denmark. It is sad that the boats that are being built today do not in any way challenge our industry, when you look at the opportunities that today are within the design, materials and production techniques.
Elvstrøm builds the sails
But no records for a sailboat can happen without the right sails. And when the goal is to make one record after another, there can be no compromise on quality. The choice of an EPEX membrane sail from Elvström Sails means the Funen team have chosen the market's strongest and most stable sail.
We chose Elvström Sails for several reasons, explains Jonas Pedersen. Designed by the world's best designer
The superb quality is also evident in other parts of the project. The Trimaran is designed by Nigel Irens, the world's best multi-hull designer. He has designed for Alinghi and Ellen MacArthur, who in February 2005 set the world record for non-stop solo sailing around the world in her trimaran B & Q / Castorama. And now the world class designer can also add a forward thinking Sydfynske threesome on the CV.
The man who will manage the trimaran into the record books, the former Volvo Ocean Race sailing and EM-gold winner in the Laser, Stefan Myralf.
The team will soon be racing, including starts in Tåsinge Tour, Palby Fyn Cup Classic Round Funen, Zealand Tour, Gotland Runt and Watski2star.
