Cowes Week 2010

Cowes Week: After Action Report

Obviously the first outing of our ‘Cowes Week Service Initiative’ (it’s a working title but clearly very catchy...) was going to be hugely exciting for everybody involved. And by ‘exciting’ what I actually mean to say is nail-biting. And as we all know nothing makes a day as exciting as a healthy dose of jeopardy which, for me, was provided each day by not only by a borderline suicidal trip across to Cowes from Hamble in a 4.8m RIB (an exploit usually reserved for the clinically insane) followed by the worry that I may have overloaded the incredibly talented sail repair team (that had sacrificed their evenings to come in) with too much work to do, culminating in the same, aforementioned, suicide run across the Solent the next morning to deliver the sails again.

Despite all of that, and the anxiety disorder that I have probably now developed, Cowes week was a huge success. It is for that reason that I personally, along with everybody here at Elvstrøm Sails UK, would like to say a massive thank you to everybody that contributed to help us make the week the success that it was including, most importantly, all of our customers!

We hope that we can turn everything that we accomplished this year into something even better and bigger for next year. Because of the high demand for repairs that we had last week we are currently thinking of ways to expand what we can do so we can do our best to insure that nobody is disappointed that they cannot get their sails repaired by us here in Hamble.

To that end, in order to develop our service we welcome anybody to email with their suggestions on what we could improve. Now I know what you must be thinking: ‘But Stuart, how does one improve upon perfection?’ And whilst that is very nice of you to say we are aware that the best ideas often come from the point of view of our customers, being the highly intelligent, good-looking bunch that you are. So any ideas that you have will be well received!

So thanks again to everybody involved with us at Cowes week this year and we hope to see many more of you next year!

Elvstrom Sails Service

We offer throughout the year a full and authorised service facility from our premises within HYS, next to Port Hamble Marina, in Hamble. We are not the easiest to find, being tucked round the back of the main yard building, but once there your sails will be well looked after in our proper sail loft with up-to-date machines set into the floor.

If for any reason your sail fails or gets ripped, will be pleased to help, and get you back on the water as quickly as possible. We are able to support many charter fleets, and race boat crews - and can do the same for you.

In the tabs below you can see our fixed prices for the most common service work, the prices for spare parts and washing your sails and covers. Also our pick-up locations are shown.

In the winter we can check over your sails and covers for free, and give you an estimate for the work (if any) that may be required.
